Subprime Lending Shops Close Their Doors, Pushing Borrowers To Payday Lenders, Credit Cards

Where are you going for a $ 10,000 loan when you have bad credit? Do not try a storefront lender. Some close their doors. People with a spotty credit history who are looking for a quick loan can take place in these options online.
Online payday lenders and credit card companies are rushing to fill the void because the banks to withdraw from subprime loans - that is loans to people with less-than-stellar credit. Credit card loans to subprime consumers rose 41 percent 2010-2011, based credit reporting agency Equifax.

Leaf Spring, in deep debt, is collapsing. With the credit rating classified as "junk", the company is unable to borrow money cheaply enough to make profitable loans, the Journal reported.
OneMain is also struggling to make profits, even if Citigroup has tried unsuccessfully to sell its subprime consumer lending arm. Meanwhile, these stores rejiggering their activities to move away from providing subprime borrowers huge loans such as mortgages and larger credit lines and instead small loans with an average size of $ 3,000, according to the Journal.
